As the newly appointed President I would encourage you to browse through our web site as regularly as you wish. If you have any ideas or comments then please contact me, Albert Kemp FCII, by email to akemp@insurex-exposure.com.

The Insurance Institute of Royal Tunbridge Wells is a thriving Institute. With around 630 members it is by no means the smallest institute in the UK but its attendance record at our lecture meetings competes strongly with some of the larger ones.

We have a good cross section of Council members, both in age and industry experience which makes for very interesting Council meetings and we feel that our decisions give members good value for their money.

Each year we put on a varied educational lecture programme – trying to suit all tastes. These are spread across three areas – Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Sevenoaks. View the Event page for details.

Most of our presentations are held over the lunch period with lunch being supplied free of charge to those who attend. But we do hold the odd “Breakfast” meeting, which we believe helps those extra busy people from having to break up their day. We supply breakfast, of course!

In addition to the educational programme, we run some very successful sporting and social events which have become very popular among our members. These events include our Ten Pin Bowling Competition, General Knowledge Quiz and a Golf Tournament.

Education is our prime object and to underline this we pride ourselves in having an examination centre in our area. Twice a year, in April and October, we manage the CII's written examinations at the Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells.

The world is an ever-changing place. Progress gets faster by the year and we have a hard job keeping up with it. But keeping abreast of the changes that take place in the insurance industry is a must. These changes affect the way that we need to operate our institute. To help with this process there is always a need to welcome new blood onto our Council so that we can improve the service we offer to our members.

Not only do we need new blood on our Council but we need to make our institute an interesting option for new members. The CII is the route for young people to become qualified and aid professionalism. Although it may seem to be an expensive commodity for people looking at the possibilities of joining, it can open up many and varied career prospects.
